The missions hymn “For the Sake of His Name” is an excellent resource for pastors who are organizing a spring missions conference or a missions-focused church service.

“For the Sake of His Name” (FSHN) was written by Chris Anderson (text) and Gregg Habegger (score) to commemorate the ten year anniversary of Student Global Impact, a missions mobilization ministry under Missions Mandate. The song debuted at the ‘10 SGI National Conference in January.

Heritage Bible Church in Greer, SC ministered to one another with the “FSHN” hymn during their church planting conference a couple weeks ago. According to their church blog, FSHN “is full of memorable thoughts and motivations to pray for the gospel to advance.”

I have often heard pastors make comments like “it’s really hard to find missions songs that combine sound theology with an approachable, memorable tune.” This is one they definitely should add to their songbook. I look forward to more missions resources like the “FSHN” hymn from ministries like Church Works Media in the near future.

I strongly recommend the other hymns that Christ and Gregg have written. They can be accessed at Church Works Media for free!
